Ready to wear is the new COOL!

Hello guys, I know…… i know …… oh no! Apologies! I totally understand what’s going through your minds now. Yes that was wrong, yes I admit it and have found a way to make sure I don’t disappear again(MULTITASKING). Often times we find ourselves into too many activities and not being able to focus on every single thing that matter but women generally are known to be fantastic multi tasking beings and we totes give it up to them and moving forward we would try to keep everyone in the loop on all platforms available for this brand.

Over to the next one but first we appreciate the feedbacks from the previous months especially those that suggested we make ready to wear outfits along side basic designed clothes, you made it happen and we are pleased to announce that we now have Tops,Gowns,Trousers and Back packs in different sizes and fabrics ready for pickup or delivery. We would be uploading pictures soon in our next post and your ready to wear would just be a click away.

Have a lovely weekend ahead and don’t forget to step out in style!👏

Tip Tuesday

So while we are all busy rocking our African Prints, you’d agree that we have challenges maintaining their lustre, not forgetting the complicated embroidery, lace and diamanté stones they are sometimes designed with.
Well, we put together a few tips to help you care for and maintain your African print fabrics.
First of all, you shouldn’t wash your fabrics too often. Instead, try drying them out in the sun. This way the fabric wouldn’t fade too easily and you don’t have to worry about loosing embellishments.

For when you need to wash, gently hand wash and as much as possible, avoid using harsh detergents.
lastly, pay attention to the level of heat you apply when ironing. Most African prints are made of cotton which would require high heat but beware of attachments made of linen, voile and other fabrics and of embellishments which may have glue.

So there you have it. Hopefully with these tips, you’ll get more wear and less tear out of your African print fabrics.

Great day ahead guys and thanks for stopping by!

*inhale-exhale* I can’t express how occupied Iv been in the past week or 2,it’s got to be the toughest days of my life. Too many things going on and me holding on and making sure i get it all done and the thing about clothe making is that you tend to be possessed by fabrics I have over 10 clothes pending and on Sunday I went to visit a friend of mine she always wanted me to make her stuff so of course I took her measurements and then I got the shocker of my life she had her fabrics (4) in the room all wrapped up waiting,I couldn’t say no, I already got this blood clot on my left leg from the work done behind the wheels.

(Who leaves their legs unshaved looking all tacky?that happened to me too💔)

Truth is I felt so terrible seeing that clot again cuz Iv had it once and I panicked badly but the doctor asked what sport I do often or if I walk long distances but hell naw I be rocking my feet on the wheels! After I got to know it was normal and I just needed to slow down with the machine especially when I’m not well rested,I’ve handled it better.Anyways, I’ve decided to cool off! One step at a time, one clothe when I can every now and then but judging from the fact that I do an 8-5 cmon, I’m actually hilarious thinking I could pull that off, the other day a friend called me and the only thing he asked was “are you okay?” Well of course I said Yasss im great, he sounded serious this time and said “look Damaris,uv been Mia like everywhere uv not had coffee at Neo in months unlike you usually do,u don’t even make posts here or IG,tell me what’s up,is anything wrong?” Then I heaved a great sigh! I felt like laughing but I didn’t want to create the impression that I think he’s a joker cuz for once someone else noticed Iv been worked up and gradually sinking, then I kinda explained what’s been going on,he was upset that I was over working my self to meet demands from clients even when most of the ppl are under paying my efforts, nigga talked me bk to reality cuz if I break down someday I bet none of em would be around to pay me a visit. Basically il advice everyone else having to set targets and want to jump off a bride trying to accomplish it,You Only Live Once, and if you live right once is enough. Cheers to freedom! Cheers to a fulfilled month! Cheers to a life free of negativity!

And so in my spare time Iv been sketching some cute designs for the guys, can’t wait to kick start some of the outfits

I hope to make the guys proud again, first attempt slayed! God willing I’ll pull through.

Wishing everyone a thriving and productive Tuesday, encourage someone today! Inhale confidence, exhale fears.

Putting Life into words.(writing advice)

, , , , ,

Good morning everyone! I’ve had a funny week and there’s rather a lot of this going on, at the moment.

Know the feeling?

Some people call it writer’s block. I call it I need a kick up my arse! Yes, I said arse, on a Sunday!

What is wrong? I don’t know, but I lack concentration and energy. Maybe I died in the night? No… there’s a faint pulse.
So, in order to kick start my creativity, I’ve found this.

I suspect I’m the space cadet. In deep space, with my dreams. I have amazing ideas; don’t we all? But, I jot them down and suddenly… they’re not so amazing!
I can be the angry young woman – not so young though but angry, all the same.
I’m definitely in danger of becoming the weird recluse.(I think I may be there already) I can be business like when required; although whether I could be described as a ray of sunshine… well that is for the reader to decide.
I don’t see myself as a bitter failure, though. Even when the blank computer screen taunts me and the words become jumbled up in my aching and noisy head; I’m not a failure. We all have our bad days/weeks/months/years.
I’ve just had a pain in the arse of a week and even when my phone decides to blank out the whole day,I just tossed it on the side and went on like nothing happened. Then my eye has been extra specially painful and what I have managed to scribble down, leaves a lot to be desired. Somewhere in amongst all of this mess and mayhem,I’m getting to have an awesome Sunday Afterall who knows,it’s probably a sign this week would be awesome!
Who doesn’t love baked chicken, thaicilantrogingercalamari and some green peas with zucchini and mashed potatoes!💋

So, today is a new start. This post may not be the most amazing; but it certainly beats nothing.

Finally, before I clear off to procrastinate some more (Hamlet has got nothing on me!)here’s some advice on how to be a boring , bad writer.
*chuckling* I really hope no one needs that.

Thanks for dropping by and thanks again Dr. David, God bless you.
Have a great Sunday and a blessed week ahead!

Success tips for those who feel they are lagging behind.

Tags

, , , , , , , , ,

Goodmorning y’all,it’s a new week of exploits and today I’m excited to encourage us as always especially for those of  us who feel We’r out of time or just lagging behind, well I’ll first advice we read up on some people who already went through that phase and how they handled it. I read up on Richard Branson and my word!! The positivity is just everything, he made my reading worthwhile and I just had to share that with us. Richard Branson is one of the richest men in the UK, and he is a self-made man that had a tough start in life.If you have ever read his autobiographies, you will notice a few personality traits that seem to drive him towards success. Reading his autobiographies, i could hardly call him a lucky man, but he has driven his own success and created a unique brand that is somehow able to apply its name to anything from music to airlines. There are many times when Richard has sat down, taken a look at his life and asked, “Why the hell am I failing when I know I should be winning!” Here are a few tips based on his life struggles.

1. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS LUCK

This is going to really stick in some people’s throat, but consider the fact that it is true.Almost every instance of good luck was actually your own creation in some way.If a good friend shares her lottery winnings with you, then you were the one that kept the friendship going in the first place. If you were offered a fantastic job, it is because you put yourself out there on the job market;somebody didn’t knock on your door at random and offer you the job.

2. AN OPPORTUNITY IS SOMETHING YOU CREATE

Richard proved this a bunch of times. He needed a way to get home, so he hired a plane and sold tickets in the airport to pay for it.He used this idea to start an airline.Steven Spielberg tricked security guards at a movie studio and stole an empty office to start his career.Hillary Clinton solicited millions from interest groups by promising to work for them when she becomes president.Liu Xiaomeng sold Suning Commerce franchises and made billions by saving her commissions and re-investing them into expanding her sales operation. So I’ll say you look out for the opportunity because most of the time its just there looking us in the face while we go after what we assume is the ultimate path to success.3. KNOW WHEN TO GRIT YOUR TEETH AND WHEN TO QUIT

There are plenty of projects that Richard Branson started and quit, and plenty that he carried on to the bitter end.Part of being successful is knowing when to grit your teeth and when to quit. His Christmas tree business was a failure, so he quit, but when British Airways tried to muscle him out of the airline business, he fought back and won.

4. DO THE LEGWORK YOURSELF TO FIND THE BEST OPPORTUNITIES

Richard had become rich and wanted to buy an island, but he didn’t have the necessary millions to make it happen. He contacted an island owner that had listed the island for £2 million. He paid the man a visit and found out that the guy would accept £300,000 because he was desperate to sell.If Richard had not cut out the estate agency from the sale, he would not have owned his island from such an early age.
5. YOUR SUCCESS RISES AND FALLS ON YOUR OWN REPUTATION

This is an important message ladies. If you are in a loving relationship, you should still not allow your partner to take videos of you having sex or naked.Your success will rise and fall based on your reputation, and a leaked naked photo or sex act on the internet can ruin you.It can cost you anything from your managerial job in a jewelers, to how sexily you are allowed to dress when trying to promote the next Hunger Games movie.

6. ANYBODY CAN HAVE A FANTASTIC IDEA

The reason most executives do not listen to the ideas of their janitors, homeless people, their kids, or people of a lower status is because of credibility. Most think, if that person were so smart, then he or she would be better promoted or more important.Richard has proven time and time again that this bias isn’t true.Great ideas can come from anywhere, anywhere at all, who says you can’t be the next big thing? Keep telling yourself that anyway.

7. KEEP YOUR PRIVATE LIFE PRIVATE

Sorry ladies, but we are especially bad when it comes to this tip. There are women that break up with their boyfriend, and then detail every nasty element of their #relationship to their friends and on Facebook.Remember that your reputation matters, just like your appearance matters. It would be nice if people were judged on how they were instead of their reputation, but they are not.You wouldn’t leave your child with a man that has a reputation for fighting, or with a woman that “looks” like she has just escaped from a mental asylum. You may want to brag about the time you visited the men’s barracks, or the time you cheated on your boyfriend with his hot brother, but such revelations will damage your reputation and make your path to success more difficult. It’s hard to argue with a man who has proved you can be massively successful from a small base.

Follow your dreams fam! Do have a Great week. And as always,I appreciate you stopping by. Cheers!!

A warm morning to my awesome readers, I trust y’all had a great weekend, personally I’m well rested and plain thankful to be back at work to face the grind, nothing screams successful more than having your life all Strategized and gradually taking steps towards achieving set goals. Well today I’m not doing any basic motivational posts maybe not yet because today I’m celebrating a wonderful lady who turns out to be my younger sister! It’s suprising how time flies, it feels like yesterday when we used to fight a lot over very irrelevant things errm well now theyr irrelevant but don’t you dare say that if we met 10/8 years ago cuz ild gladly beat you up!😂 yes I was that tough, but despite all the drama we had growing up we still had a way of smoothening things out,the way we acted “play” and even wrote books we used to act our own reality 😩 lawd the way we turn the house upside down is the part I still don’t understand and I pray my kids don’t ever do that to my house,God bless you Mrs. Ogechukwu Benadette Ebo aka B fix! Real super woman!! Her tolerance is out of this world

Although sometimes her hands spoke louder than her voice but it actually made sense that way especially now We’r all grown. So today I’m wishing you all the good things this life has got to offer, I pray you attain greater heights, above all sister I wish you long life and prosperity, good health and God’s abundant Grace,I pray this new year brings you joy, peace and love! Health Check

Hey fam, how are we all doing today?booming! i suppose, well im bringing us a whole different recipe of awesomeness, im sure yall are wondering what today’s topic is about,ok lets bring it down to simple terms, did you know that Fashion without health is dead?ask me how, take for instance you have all the best clothes piled up in your closet and you still have a medical check up or series of injections to take and capsules you  need to keep you healthy, trust me you wont be in the mood to enjoy all of that goodness in your closet so its actually advicable to put the two together, they work hand in hand to make every succesful individual happy and fulfilled. Today we’ll be learning more about the magic wonder called Detoxification or detoxication (detox for short)lm sure we are all conversant with this but what does it mean? It is the physiological or medicinal removal of toxic substances from a living organism, including the human body, which is mainly carried out by the liver.

How do you start a detox?First, lighten up your toxin load. Eliminate alcohol, coffee, cigarettes, refined sugars and saturated fats, all of which act as toxins in the body and are obstacles to your healing process. Also, minimize use of chemical-based household cleaners and personal health care products (cleansers, shampoos, deodorants and toothpastes), and substitute natural alternatives.
Another deterrent to good health is stress, which triggers your body to release stress hormones into your system. While these hormones can provide the “adrenaline rush” to win a race or meet a deadline, in large amounts they create toxins and slow down detoxification enzymes in the liver. Yoga and meditation are simple and effective ways to relieve stress by resetting your physical and mental reactions to the inevitable stress life will bring. Every now and then the human body secretes some toxic substances that rarely get excreted and would certainly do harm while they remain in the human body.i’ll be leaving us with a few recipes to keep us going.

  1. Fat Burning detox:

This recipe gives you a detox water that flushes out nasty toxins and really does help you to drop a few pounds, too. It’s got apple cider vinegar which has so many benefits that it’s impossible to list them all. There are also apples which are great for fiber, lemons that have cleansing properties and cinnamon which helps to curb your appetite. You’ll need about 12 ounces of filtered water

2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar,

1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice,

A teaspoon of ground cinnamon and about half a medium apple, sliced.

You can also add a bit of sweetener if you want.

You simply put everything except the apples into your blender and blend for about ten seconds. Then just add your apples and drink. totally refreshing!!6-fat-burning-detox-drink

2.   Fruity Detox Water:

This delicious detox water has strawberries and kiwis and is the perfect summer drink. You will need 2 liters of water, a couple of strawberries and a couple of kiwis. Just chop your kiwis and strawberries, add to your water and sit in the fridge for a couple of hours to let it seep. The kiwi has vitamins A and E which will help you to rid your body of free radicals and they help to flush toxins from your colon. Strawberries are great for your skin and then contain anti-aging properties and help to fight carcinogens. You can add more or less fruit depending on your taste preferences or add different fruits or a mint sprig for a completely new taste. please let me know what you think of thisafter a glass.

3. Strawberry Infused Vitamin Water:

This detox water not only keeps you hydrated but it helps you to enjoy beautiful skin. It’s chocked full of vitamins and anti-inflammatory ingredients and it looks beautiful in the glass, too. You will need about a cup of strawberries, 2 cups of cubed watermelon, a couple of sprigs of fresh rosemary, filtered water and just a dash of course salt. Just muddle the strawberries and rosemary together in a bowl and then add them with the cubed watermelon to your pitcher. Pour filtered water over it, give it just a light stir and then refrigerate for a couple of hours and there goes your glass of goodness!5-strawberry-vitamin-water

4.  Aloe Water

You have surely heard of (or experienced for yourself) the wonderful benefits of aloe. Did you know that you can add it to your water? When you take aloe internally, it can help with circulation and digestion and increase your energy and eliminate fatigue. Making aloe infused detox water is easyif not the easiest. You need to split the leaf down the center and remove the gel. Mix the gel with some water and lemon in the blender and process for about a minute. You will need about a cup of water, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and about 2 tablespoons of aloe gel.8-aloe-water

5.  New Year Detox Water:

Ok, so it’s not even close to the New Year so you can just call this one the New You Detox Water. You need a gallon pitcher of spring water and a few raspberries along with sliced grapefruit, cucumbers, and pears and a sprig of fresh mint. You can also add lemons, limes, blueberries and cranberries if you want. Just add all of the ingredients into the pitcher and allow it to sit for a couple of hours so that the flavors combine. Make a new pitcher every day to keep it fresh. This one will boost your metabolism, help you to burn fat, and flush out all those nasty toxins that make you feel sluggish.4-new-detox-drink

N/B : a) Please dont forget to take out all the citrus from your pitcher after 4 – 6 hours of sitting, you dont want to be gulping your water in disgust of the soar/bitter taste coming from the prolonged citrus extract. b) if you have a huge pitcher and intend to keep the water for about 6 days, feel free to always put in a little of freshly squeezed juice like orange and lemon or lime to give it a fresh kick.

Thanks for stopping by once again, have fun and stay healthy always.#HealthIsWealth

Fashion should be FUN!

In west Africa, 90% of us wear Ankara on Fridays, where this came up from we are not sure, many see it as being “proudly African” but why Fridays? OK let’s say its in preparation for the weekend,so we Dont look so uptight at work,we loosen up a bit with our attire.Unknown to many of you Ankara which is commonly known as “African fabric” goes by a multitude of names: Dutch wax print, Real English Wax, Veritable Java Print, Guaranteed Dutch Java, Veritable Dutch Hollandais. They are not Nigerian fabrics(in recent times it is now being produces in west Africa,by likes of vilisco,Woodin etc). I grew up calling them ankara and they’ve always been a huge symbol of my Nigerian and African identity.

In the 19th century West Africans embraced these Dutch wax prints, using and assimilating them into societies as a part of culture and self-expression. The English were manufacturing and selling wax print textiles as well, but the Dutch brands were more popular.
Dutch wax prints carried, and still carry, an enormous amount of prestige and this was mostly likely due to their uniqueness as part of an European industry producing for export markets solely in West Africa.
Irrespective of the origin of the fabric,we tend to embrace every stylish design that is made out of prints.

Lately designing has taken so many positive turns or should i say things have just evolved for better especially with ankara prints. i stumbled on an outfit online being sold by Zuvaa and my word! i was dazzled at the melange piece, i had to make proper enquiry on how the fabrics were put together i say it pays to be creative.

Anyone can pull this off! rocking this would be awesome yay  or nay?

i hope we all have an awesome friday and weekend ahead i think mine would be lit as always and of course i would keep us updated if it gets really juicy, aha i almost forgot again i finally gave in to making male outfits and the first attempt is impressive maybe because it was made for a wonderful man!! *clears throat*

its actually encouraging when you make an outfit based on guess work for appropriate measurements and it still turns out nicely although a bit tight but he’s satisfied and so am i. Please feel free to send a mail (maamdee@outlook.com) call or whatsapp(07059894851) for your own hook up or add up on instagram and send a DM(@maam_d_apparel) thanks for stopping by once again, stayblessed!
